Measuring amplifier

Device which amplifies the mostly very weak output signal during electrical measuring procedures (e.g. 2 mV/V bridge voltage for strain gauges) to a level required for the purposes of display or further processing.

The amplifier output signal may be used for display purposes, although it may also be used for documentation or undergo further processing in a computer.

A distinction is made between measuring amplifiers with carrier frequency for inductive sensors and DC amplifiers for active sensors, which produce their own voltage.
