Phosphate ester
Fire-resistant hydraulic fluid based on esters of phosphates. It belongs to the group known as HFD fluids ; its fire resistance is can be explained by its molecular structure.
Reservoir expansion capacity
Gas (air) volume above the maximum fluid level in a vessel that is intended to absorb the expansion in the volume as the temperature of the fluid changes (CETOP RP 100).
Pressure
pascal: 1 Pa = 1 N/m2. In fluid technology p is mostly stated in bar (1 bar = 105 N/m2). However, MPa (106 N/m2) is also used. Pressure figures, if not otherwise stated, in fluid technology are to be understood [...] pressure as the reference variable. The pressure of a medium is one of the most important parameters in fluid technology. It occurs, as shown, in numerous variants that each have a specific significance for the
Materials for seals
Contact seals for fluid technology are predominantly manufactured from polymer materials in the group "elastic materials". The most important characteristics of these materials are their elasticity (adaptation [...] n to unevenness and to changing pressure), hardness (wear behaviour), resistance in the pressure fluid (swelling behaviour), sliding and friction behaviour, wear resistance among others. The elastic materials [...] thermoplastics for special tasks. Metal materials have become significantly less important for seals in fluid technology. Occasionally there are piston rings and sealing rings made of soft metals that must be
Breather filter
Filter on the hydraulic fluid tank that filters the air flowing in as the pump draws fluid to prevent contamination by this route. Its filtration grade should correspond to that of the oil filter.
Throttle check valve
valve and such that the hydraulic fluid flow in one direction must flow through the throttle (and is reduced in the process), while in the other direction the hydraulic fluid flows unthrottled via the check
Acoustic impedance
element. The column of fluid has resistive behaviour, if the internal damping is ignored (acoustic impedance only has a real element). The acoustic impedance of a column of fluid in a pipe is dependent [...] achieved if the acoustic impedance of the pipe termination is the same as the impedance of the pipe (fluid + pipe walls). The acoustic impedance is used in hydraulics in particular for the design of pulsation
Symbols
the function of a fluid device (not its construction design) in accordance with a standard or a key. The symbols were previously known as switching symbols. The symbols used in fluid switching technology
Sealing compatibility index (DVI)
materials in different hydraulic fluids that can range from shrinkage, through slight swelling, to complete dissolution of the elastomer. If the DVI of the intended hydraulic fluid is known, with the aid of diagrams
Hydrokinetics
the flow of fluids with low compressibility and little internal friction. In hydrokinetics, the transmission of energy mainly occurs via the kinetic energy associated with the flowing fluid. This is why
