Hoses

Flexible lines to supply moved components with liquid or gaseous media.

Hoses in hydraulic systems,

alongside transporting hydraulic fluid to moved consumers (cylinders, motors), often have the task of damping pulsations and pressure surges.

As the hoses also have to work even under high pressures, they are rarely used in hydraulic systems without reinforcement linings in the form of textile braiding, steel wire braiding or spirals, which are embedded in intermediate layers of elastic materials (Figure S 24).

The hoses in hydraulic systems are wearing parts, whose strength is reduced, amongst other things, by pressure surges, pulsations and bending stress, as well as by chemical and physical influences, even including simple storage.

Relevant norms:

DIN 20 078 Hose assemblies in fluid technology
