Tank

Vessel for collecting and to some extent conditioning hydraulic fluid (removal of contamination and air, quietening). Is used at the same time to remove dissipated heat, however it is only suitable for this task to a limited degree (Table B 1).

As the tank is manufactured of thin material, it must not be in physical contact with the pump to prevent noise propagation. Tanks mostly have a breather filter that connects them to the exterior air (open tank (Figure B 5)). In special cases closed tanks are used that are pressurised to 0.3 to 0.6 bar using compressed air to improve the filling of the pump. In this case, a rubber diaphragm is recommended as a separating wall (precharged tank).
