Process-dependent workflow control

Workflow control with step enabling conditions that are only dependent on signals from the controlled system (process) (DIN 19 237).

The process-dependent workflow control – previously known as "sequence control" – is really the type of control which allows for the shortest possible cycle time given the greatest possible security, as each subsequent function only receives its start impulse once the previous function has been completed. However, the technical effort of the device is greater than the time-based workflow controls, as a suitable sensor must be present for each start impulse. The process-dependent workflow control is equally effective in controlling smaller processes (e.g. machine controls) as it is in controlling large overall processes and flexible production systems.
