Hose stretching

As hoses must be elastic in order to fulfil their task as a moving line connection, consideration must be taken to ensure that they also react elastically to excess pressure from the inside.

Hoses for higher pressures are more heavily reinforced for reasons of strength, therefore the volume extension increases roughly linearly, given the same inner diameter. It is heavily dependent on the design and size of the hose and means an increase of the dead volume and a simultaneous reduction of the stiffness of the line (Figure S 27).
