Double acting cylinder

Cylinder in which a pressure difference can act in both directions (forward and return stroke) (ISO 1219-1).

Double-acting cylinders have two surfaces that act in opposite directions. The surfaces are of the same size or different sizes. The cylinders have two line connections that are separate from each other. By feeding the hydraulic fluid through the two connections, the piston can transfer tensile and compressive forces in both stroke directions. This cylinder type can be found in almost all fields of application.

Double acting cylinders are mostly equipped with a piston rod (differential cylinder). However, two piston rods are also fitted (synchronizing cylinder).
