The overall costs for a plant consist of the procurement costs A, (Figure K 33) and operating costs K, which can fluctuate considerably in the field of hydraulics. They will depend primarily on overall losses (the sum of individual losses) and the susceptibility to faults.
In most cases, however, measures to reduce operating costs will mean higher procurement costs. As such, the operator must decide at the time of purchasing a plant whether they want to save costs in terms of procurement or operation.
