Open-centre position
In the case of three-directional valves, in the centre position, all ports can be connected to one another –– and therefore with the workflow (requires negative overlap).
Pressure control
pressure in a device or a system as a function of pre-defined control signals. The pressure control can be undertaken by switching processes or continuously.
Filter life
parameter, which would be very important for the user, depends on so many boundary conditions that it can, at best, be estimated if the operating conditions are known.
Ultra fine filter
Compressed air filters that can retain particles of dirt down to 0.01 μm. This includes fluid particles of this size (e.g. aerosols), and also bacteria and viruses.
Release signal
signal. Here attention is to be paid to the duality of release and locking: The reversal of locking can correspond to a release (DIN 19 237).
Phosphate ester
based on esters of phosphates. It belongs to the group known as HFD fluids ; its fire resistance is can be explained by its molecular structure.
Continuous value
the signal parameter can assume all values of an interval (e.g. all voltage values between -10 and +10 V if the voltage is the signal parameter) (DIN 19 225).
Telescopic connection
Arrangement of two pipes which are sealed off against one another and can be axially adjusted into one another. Telescopic connections are used with axially movable cylinders in place of hoses.
Drag indicator
gauge , which has the task of displaying the maximum pressure incurred in a system. The drag indicator can be reset using a control knob.
Modular design
is when functional units or even physical units are associated with a defined type of behaviour and can be linked together based on defined rules (EDIN 19 226, Part 5).
