Resolution

Increase in the input signal that is necessary to cause a change in the power output by the (continuously adjustable) valve at a specific signal level, expressed in % of the input signal.

The resolution is normally stated as the minimum signal that is necessary to cause a change in the valve output power. If the signals vary the larger should be stated

(CETOP RP 100).

In measuring systems:

the smallest unit (e.g. distance) that causes a signal change at the measuring device.

For variable throttles:

The ratio of the change in cross-section (and with it the flow) to the throttle adjustment travel ΔA/Δh.
