Limit monitor
Compares the value of an input variable with a limit. If this limit is exceeded or dropped below, the limit signal changes (DIN 19 237).
Degree of freedom
Possibility of movement of a rigid body in a reference system. Six degrees of freedom are given, e.g., by three translatory and three rotary movement features.
Fluid technology
Area of drive technology that uses the conversion, control, feedback control and transmission of energy by means of a fluid or gaseous hydraulic fluid to solve drive tasks.
Spring reset
The moving parts of the device are placed in the initial position by spring force after the actuating force has been removed (e.g. in spring-centred directional valves or spring pre-load on check valv
Screw-in cartridge valve
Type of valve in which the housing is not required and is replaced by corresponding recesses in the block into which the valve internals are screwed (e.g. on directional valves the valve sleeve with t
Flow coefficient Kv (Kv value) of a valve
Defines the quantity of water in m3 (L) that flows through a valve in one hour (minute) with a pressure drop of 1 bar (VDI 2173). The Kv value is therefore a parameter for the selection of valve sizes
Drift
Unintentional change in a measured signal due to the effect of a external variables that change over time, e.g. temperature drift.
Digital input step
Change in the input variable that changes the output variable by the smallest digital step (1 D = 1 Digit).
Covering plate
Plate for covering valve stations on a group plate (stacked plate). They are used if an additional device is to be fitted later.
