Piston pump
Hydraulic pump in which the pressure fluid is displaced by one or more pistons . Pistons may be arranged in a row or aligned radially or axially in relation to the drive shaft.
Pressure surge
Shock in the pressure fluid due to the release of kinetic energy if the flow rate suddenly stops (e.g. due to closing a valve or a piston moving against a stop). The pressure wave produced in this manner [...] correspondingly if the kinetic energy of the weight must also be retarded as well as the column of fluid.
Compressibility
Characteristic whereby every genuine fluid reduces in volume under pressure. The compressibility associated with mineral oil is also dependent on the temperature and the kind of change of state involved
Gas filling pressure
Gas pressure that is applied to a fluid vessel with or without separator. On hydraulic accumulators the gas filling pressure corresponds to the precharge pressure. Example: hydropneumatic accumulator
Energy conversion
or frequency conversion, while on fluid-based systems a pump or a compressor is required. The drive element in electrical systems is the electric motor, and in fluid technology the cylinder or the motor
Intake characteristic
depends on the rotation speed of the pump, the intake cross-section and the viscosity of the hydraulic fluid. The higher the rotation speed and the viscosity become, the worse the intake characteristic. If the [...] the intake characteristic is inadequate such that cavitation occurs, either the hydraulic fluid must be fed to the pump (pump under the tank) or it must be supplied with pressure (charge pump)
Filter selection
be taken into account, such as: Nature of the pressure fluid and its viscosity , Maximum flow rate , Required cleanliness level of the pressure fluid ( filtration grade ), Intended temperature range, On
ISO
standards institutes whose technical committee TC 131 works on all standardisation tasks associated with fluid technology. The resulting ISO standards are either adopted directly (DIN ISO ...) or incorporated
Threaded shaft seal
Non-contact seal from the group of labyrinth gap seals on which fluid flowing outward is pumped back by a counter-rotating thread on the shaft. Here a pointed, triangular thread has proven effective (Figure
Remote control
Control system on which the operating position is separate from the fluid technology systems such that the operating elements need to be operated over a greater distance. Operation can be using both hydraulic
