Pipe inductance

Pipe inductance is a measure of the pressure difference required, assuming the flow is free of friction, to change the flow rate inside a pipe. It is based on the mass inertia associated with the fluid. The following equation can be written for the change in flow rate dQ/dt, based on a given pressure difference Δp:
