Intelligent energy storage system made to measure

IEP stands for Intelligent Energy Pack. And these are the ready-to-use battery packs with integrated battery management, pre-charging unit, shut-off unit and thermal management. The battery packs are designed for single or parallel operation and are used in all mobile machines. They consist of interconnected lithium-ion cells (type NMC, NMCA) or lithium iron phosphate cells (LFP) and are characterized by a high degree of integrated functions. HAWE Mattro develops and produces the battery packs in Schwaz, Tyrol and also offers chargers, power distribution units (PDU) and cages for a quick-change system.

The IEP battery packs in NMC or NMCA technology with lithium-ion cells offer a very high energy density (up to 300Wh/L or 180Wh/kg) and have a typical service life of approximately 2000 discharge cycles. The aluminum housings are available in two lengths and offer various connection options. With protection class IP65, they are ideally suited for many areas of application. The integrated battery management system (BMS) permanently monitors the condition of the battery. As a result, it protects the battery from over- or deep discharge, over/under temperature and too high currents. Thanks to the standard balancing function, the BMS also ensures balanced energy distribution within the battery, thus making a significant contribution to the service life and consistent performance over the entire life cycle.

In addition to the NMC battery packs, which have already proven themselves on the market for over 10 years, the battery packs with LFP technology (lithium iron phosphate) are now being added. The energy density is somewhat lower at (200Wh/l or 120Wh/kg), but offers a significantly longer service life with approx. 4000 discharge cycles. With the lower price compared to the NMC batteries, they are primarily intended for cost-sensitive applications where the lower energy density and the resulting higher space requirement are not the main focus. The robust aluminium housing with integrated T-slots for flexible mounting and protection class IP67 offers a high level of safety with regard to thermal influences and fire and is therefore also used in applications with high safety requirements such as mining.
