Compact hydraulic control for blade tip brakes of wind turbines

Extremely compact control for the blade tip brake in small and medium-sized wind turbines

For small and medium-sized wind turbines, the blade tip brake used must be compact. This sits at the end of the rotor blades and leads to the aerodynamic deceleration of the rotor by adjusting the blade tip. This brake can be hydraulically driven. With its specially tailored mini hydraulic unit, HAWE Hydraulik offers not only a very compact, but also a very robust solution. This reduces the maintenance effort and increases the reliability of the complete system.

The blade tip brakes work independently of each other in each rotor blade. If, for example, one system fails, the brakes in the other two blades are still active. This braking system can also be used as a redundant braking system in larger systems. With its ready-to-connect solution based on the mini hydraulic unit type HR, HAWE Hydraulik not only offers a very space-saving, but also a cost-efficient solution for this.

With the built-in bidirectional hydraulic pump, the hydraulic power pack can control both a single-acting cylinder or, a double-acting cylinder even without further valve technology. The built-in radial piston pump guarantees a robust and durable way of working. The system can be adapted to different plant sizes and adapted modularly. Reliable operation of the brake prevents critical operational disruptions and thus increases the yield of the wind turbine.
