October 13, 2025, Munich. Usability has also become increasingly important in hydraulics. HAWE Hydraulik is launching CANpal, an interface designed to meet this demand. It allows users to remotely access PSL-CAN control blocks, read settings, and set parameters using a tablet or smartphone. This is particularly beneficial for service technicians and commissioning engineers working on mobile machines in the workshop and in the field.

CANpal is a handheld service device from HAWE Hydraulik that was developed for the PSL-CAN proportional directional control valve with its onboard CAN control. The integrated wireless module and embedded web server enable a wireless connection to various mobile devices, such as tablets or smartphones. It is operated via a browser-based user interface with an intuitive design – without the need to install any additional apps. CANpal is also suitable for diagnosing IEP battery packs.

“It was important to us that this device cover various practical application scenarios that were not possible before,” explains Xiuying He, responsible Product Specialist at HAWE Hydraulik. “The customer connects CANpal to the valve battery with a single cable, connects it to the internet, and we can then access the valve battery’s data and settings from anywhere and optimize individual sections. There are no time delays or long travel times. This is a real advantage for the user.” CANpal can be connected to all common connector types, such as DT, AMP, and AMS. This means that this service device is well prepared for use around the globe.

The PSL-CAN valve manifold is a powerful, very compact valve control system with onboard CAN bus control from HAWE Hydraulik. It is available from HAWE in four sizes, which can also be combined with each other in a manifold as required. This covers volume flows from 1 to 1,000 l/min. The maximum permissible operating pressure is up to 420 bar. This valve assembly can be easily connected to the main control unit with a single cable. This single connector is used by CANpal for the service and commissioning tasks described above. This can be done without the engine running or an additional power supply, as CANpal is equipped with its own power supply using a standard battery or rechargeable battery. The CANpal touch display is robust and designed for use in the field.

Technical features at a glance:

  • High user-friendliness thanks to intuitive design
  • Supports easy commissioning
  • Enables status monitoring and calibration via remote access
  • 7-inch touchscreen
  • CAN bus interface
  • WiFi interface

The ability to access control blocks and their parameters is attractive for end users and machine manufacturers of towed owed agricultural and forestry machinery, as well as all other mobile machinery. Easy operation and intuitive user guidance make CANpal a universally applicable device for service and commissioning.

HAWE Hydraulik will be presenting the CANpal handheld service device at Agritechnica in Hanover from November 9 to 15, 2025, at booth 16C11.
