Fast excitation

To reduce the activation time of a DC solenoid its coil is placed upstream of an Ohmic resistance R v and increased voltage is applied. This reduces the activation time. As the solenoid voltage falls back to the nominal value after it reaches the nominal current, the fast excitation does not shorten the actuated time of the solenoid (see Figure G 19).
