Actuator

This is generally synonymous with a control element . In the event of movement control, the actuator converts the electrical signals of a controller into mechanical work. One example of this is the opening and closing of a valve. In hydraulics, the term actuator is commonly used as a collective term for motors, cylinders and slewing drives. The Hydraulic motor performs rotational movements. The Hydraulic cylinder performs movements in a straight line, thus transferring forces.

In aircraft hydraulics the term is used for servo hydraulicset cylinders . Actuator is a common term for a motion axis in modern assembly and handling technology.
