April 27, 2026, Munich. With a new generation of customized compact control blocks, HAWE Hydraulik demonstrates how high functional density and precise controllability can be achieved in the most confined spaces. In addition to flexible modular solutions, the company now offers manufacturers of modern municipal and street-sweeping vehicles the option of customizing control blocks to fit their specific installation space.

  • High functional density in a compact design
  • Scalable to accommodate various vehicle sizes
  • Modular systems for flexibility starting at a quantity of 1

Tailored for municipal vehicles or street sweepers, HAWE designs control blocks that integrate all necessary functions into a compact design. To achieve this, the control blocks are equipped with the required screw-in valves (cartridges) or panel-mounted valves. If needed, the compact control blocks can also be supplemented with segment valves to create hybrid solutions featuring integrated sensors, filters, or accumulators. For even greater compactness, the valve functions are integrated directly into the block. This further reduces space requirements, the number of potential leak points, and installation effort.

These control blocks enable all operational functions in compact sweepers, for example, to be implemented in a space-saving manner—from brush adjustment and contact pressure control to brush speed control. The small compact blocks impress with their sensitive and precise control of even very low flow rates.

Special attention is paid to operational safety: For example, position-holding valves integrated into the control block handle the lifting and lowering of the brushes, ensuring that the desired position is not only set precisely but also held securely under load. Upon request, HAWE integrates various emergency functions that ensure all safety-critical movements are reliably executed even when the diesel engine is shut down or when the batteries in an electrically powered machine no longer provide sufficient power. Another example is the control block for the container control system, located at the rear. By integrating a hand pump and manual emergency actuators on the valves, this allows the collection container to be tipped even when there is no engine power available.

“Our customized compact blocks demonstrate just how much functionality can be packed into a minimal footprint today,” explains Mattias Klasmann, application specialist at HAWE Hydraulik. “We develop solutions that are precisely tailored to vehicle-specific requirements—with integrated safety features, precise controllability, and high durability for everyday use.”

HAWE Hydraulik’s comprehensive, modular product range offers further options for adapting to the functions and requirements of the specific machine type. It includes valve blocks with a modular design and onboard electronics, such as the PSL-CAN proportional spool valve. By connecting the valve sections via daisy chain and CAN bus, the entire valve block is connected to the vehicle’s main control unit with just a single connector. On-site parameterization, the retrieval of condition monitoring data, and the capability for electronic flow sharing are already implemented as standard features.
