Proportion of the time Tb for which a system or device (e.g. pump) is in operation during a specific period of time T s (e.g. a month or year).
The duty ratio, besides what is required by way of reliability, is of critical importance in terms of the quality level required for devices (e.g. the lower the duty ratio, the less important the efficiency of a pump will be).
