Gap bridging
Ability of elastomer seals to bridge a gap with their spine, without being squeezed in ( gap extrusion ). The gap bridging depends on the type and hardness of the material.
Telescopic connection
against one another and can be axially adjusted into one another. Telescopic connections are used with axially movable cylinders in place of hoses.
Modular design
This is when functional units or even physical units are associated with a defined type of behaviour and can be linked together based on defined rules (EDIN 19 226, Part 5).
Arithmetic mean, average
The arithmetic mean or the average of a series of measurements with n independent individual values x, 1 ... x n, termed x̄ for short, is defined by (VDI-VDE 2600).
Rotary valve
Valve with a rotating shaft as the control element that houses the control bores (Figure D 39) . Rotary valve are only used infrequently because their actuation is difficult to automate.
Delay element
Elementary or parallel-connected transfer elements with additional time delays. They are marked Tk, where the index k states the order of the delay (according to Din 19 226 Part 2).
Force measuring
Performed with the help of force sensors designed in such a way that the force introduced acts on a strain gauge bridge (two active and two passive strain gauges) upon compression.
Durchflussverteilung (Flow Sharing)
If the system becomes more complex and several valves, combined with prioritization, come into play, "flow sharing" is realized by exchanging information and corresponding calculation by means of electronics [...] on ensures a continuous fluid supply to the hydraulic consumers independent of the pump capacity. With the help of pressure compensation, the oil flow to the consumers is proportionally distributed, i [...] path of least resistance if the pump cannot provide the required flow. This can result in the valve with the lowest pressure receiving even more flow than required, while the other valves are practically
Non-linear control system
whereby the control algorithm is associated with non-linear behaviour, i.e. the input and output for the controller are linked to each other by a non-linear characteristic curve or function.
Hydrostatic servo drive
Collective term for hydraulic cylinders and hydraulic motors . Given the low losses associated with the drive, both have very low levels of damping (D H = 0.05 to 0.2).
