Quotient of an observed change in the and the causing (sufficiently small) change in the input signal (or the measured variable). The term sensitivity of a measuring device is primarily used for indicating measuring instruments.
If the sensitivity along the scale is not constant, the indication for which it is to apply or the related value for the measured variable must be stated. In particular a differentiation can be made between initial sensitivity and thesensitivity at the end (DIN 1319). In a measuring chain the total sensitivity is obtained from the product of the individual sensitivities.
