Projects at HAWE North America

March of Dimes

HAWE North America decided to support the March of Dimes by sponsoring all HAWE Hydraulik employees and any of their family members who were interested in participating local March for Babies walks in Charlotte NC, Houston TX, and Portland OR.

HAWE Hydraulik is proud to support the March of Dimes and would like to thank all of our employees who decided to make a difference by participating and for their generosity by donating to this very worth-while cause.

In total, HAWE Cares was able to raise a total of $923. All proceeds raised went to the March of Dimes whose mission is to improve the health of babies by prevention birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Premature birth affects about 380,000 babies in the United States. The funds raised support research and programs that help mothers have full-term pregnancies and babies begin healthy lives.

Levine Cancer Institute

HAWE supports the American Cancer Society and the Levine Cancer Institute by coordinating a drive for donations of new or gently used hats, scarfs and wigs throughout the month of July.

In total, HAWE Hydraulik employees in the Charlotte and Houston locations and their family members made over 80 donations.

The Cancer Resource Center’s primary goal is to deliver professional, compassionate assistance to cancer patients, their families, caregivers and the community.  They provide timely information, referral to service and resources and emotional support. HAWE Hydraulik is proud to support The Cancer Resource Center and The Levine Cancer Institute and would like to thank all of our employees and their families who decided to make a difference by donating to this very worth-well cause.

335 Heart Foundation

HAWE also supports the 335 Heart Foundation by offering event assistances and encouraging all HAWE Hydraulik Charlotte-based employees and any of their family members who were interested in participating in the 3rd Annual Heart of a Warrior 5K in Charlotte, NC.

The event raised $5,000 which was held at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte.

The 335 Heart Foundation, founded by HAWE’s Kristina Smith, provides timely and accessible financial support to children afflicted with a critical CHD and their families. 98% of all fundraising proceeds go directly to support programs that help families in need.  The remaining 2% is used to fund basic operating costs such as liability insurance, website and a PO Box.

Habitat for Humanity

HAWE helped make a difference in the community by participating with Habitat for Humanity. Equipped with a hammer and boxes of nails, HAWE Hydraulik employees put on their hard hats, gloves and safety glasses and jumped into constructing all interior walls, adding insulation and building temporary scaffolding for a new construction home located on Ross Street in Charlotte, NC. All the work accomplished on Saturday assisted the Habitat crew get ahead of schedule on this project.

The work done by Habitat volunteers reduces the purchase price of these homes by ~20%. The labor of volunteers and partner families, efficient building methods, modest house sizes, and no-profit loans make it affordable for low-income families to purchase Habitat houses.

Toys for Tots

Toys for Tots

In December 2019 HAWE Cares started our annual Toys for Tots drive which helps spread some joy in the lives of some less fortunate children in our local communities. HAWE Hydraulik employees donated over 30 new unopened toys for children up to 12 years of age. This year, the HAWE Cares Committee completed the steps to make HAWE Charlotte an official local Tots Campaign location, which means we could accept donations from anyone.

The mission of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute the toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community. This should help less fortunate children experience the joy of Christmas and unite all members of local communities in a common cause for three months each year during the annual toy collection and distribution campaign.
