As logarithmic ratios, noise levels cannot be directly added together. Rather, the corresponding energies or noise intensities must be added together (Figure S 12).
The determination of the total noise level is therefore rather elaborate, but necessary when attempting to determine the changed noise level at the installation location before installing a new machine.
