Sequential, i.e. step by step switching control whose internal switching conditions depend on external signals (e.g. feedback from the process).
One characteristic of the staged clock control is that only one output is active at all times. The next output is only activated once the previous one has already been activated (i.e. gets low) and it is deleted as soon as the following one becomes high.
